There have been many studies over the years that show owning a pet can be good for your own health. You may have heard that cats can help to lower your blood pressure. Owning a dog can also be beneficial to your health. The American Heart Association has released a statement concluding that the combination of taking dogs for walks outside and the close bonds formed with pets and their owners can lead to less stress and a lower heart rate resulting in a reduced risk of heart disease.While I’m not a medical person and can’t prove dogs and cats improve your health, I can attest first hand that pets have definitely improved the quality of my life by providing great companionship! And after all, if pets can improve our health, we should consider this a bonus. The real reason to adopt a dog or cat is of course to give our pets a good home and a great life.
